Smt.L.Murugashankari B.Tech,PGDBA, M.F.A (Bharatanatyam), is an epitome of beauty and brains coupled with unbreakable fortitude and talent. A University rank holder in Chemical Engineering, Shankari hails from a lineage of artistes and is the daughter of ‘Kalaimamani’ Thiru.Leo Prabu, a Veteran dramatist, Writer and Director. Shankari underwent initial training in Bharatanatyam under Guru ‘Kalaimamani’ K.J.Sarasa and her arangetram took place under the tutelage of ‘Kalaimamani’ Smt.Parvathi Ravi Ghantasala. Shankari is currently pursuing her Doctorate in Bharatanatyam under the University of Madras, has presented research papers in various National Conferences and has been awarded the Junior Research Fellowship by UGC, India.
Shankari performs extensively in India and abroad and has been recognised for her talent and contribution to the field of Bharatanatyam by many famous organisations and Government Bodies. ‘Natya Kala Vipanchee’ from Dr.Balamuralikrishna (Vipanchee Trust), ‘Naatiya Thilagam’ in Selangor-Malaysia, ‘Nrithya Shiromani’ & National Excellency award in Orissa, Best Dancer Award from Tamil Nadu Iyal Isai Nataka Mandram and Sri Parthasarathy Swami Sabha, ‘Nritha Vilasini’ from Nrithyathi Kalakshetram-Bhilai, Graded artiste of Chennai Doordarshan, Trained Yoga teacher of the Sivananda Tradition with the title ‘Yoga Siromani’ are a few of the many recognitions that has come her way. Teaching is her passion, which led to the birth of Kalai Koodam Academy where shankari imparts training in Bharatanatyam & Yoga.
